About Us




At Outback Developments we focus on building environmentally conscious but affordable homes. We feel that there are significant energy and cost savings that can be designed into a home without breaking the bank. All our homes are Energuide (r) rated at 80 or higher. To achieve this rating we use the latest construction technologies, rigorous quality control and sensible building design. With proper planning, cooperation with our sub-trades and ongoing professional education we are continuously raising the bar on "practical green" construction. We follow many of the techniques used by Canadian Home Builder's Association "Green Building" methods and we have taken the Certified Energy Advisor for New Homes course offered through CHBC.

Kelly Whitehouse - President

When I started our company in 2003 I committed to building houses that would allow owners to be confident in the long lasting value of their home. With many years of experience in the Real Estate industry I had the opportunity to see hundreds of homes after they had been lived in for many years. Many times I witnessed the downside of a builder trying to save a few dollars here and there, that would lead to premature failure, excessive on-going maintenance problems or even long term adverse health consequences for the residents. Today, we attempt to both mitigate our potential impact on the planet and to deliver a truly healthy home, that will last a lifetime. These concepts are also balanced with the view that quality homes should be affordable and practical. Additionally, we strive to provide our owners with flexibility in how they use their homes, so that as their needs change over time their home will change with them.

Anita Whitehouse - Interior Design

I am responsible for making the homes we build warm, friendly, inviting and exciting. My excellent design skills, exceptional eye for colour and materials help bring together the components of the house into a single entity. I love visualizing the finished product before the first pieces of wood are put together to imagine how the end result will feels. With a strong background in business (BBA), accounting (Third Level CGA) and a passion for design I have combined a talent with numbers and love of style to bring projects together. The end result is a home that is affordable, cost efficient and inviting. By staying on top of the current and future design trends I can pull together the elements that create lasting comfort, value and functionality.

Current Projects

Our first project at the Black Mountain Golf Course, Melcor's multi-generational, master planned golf community located in Kelowna. This gorgeous new rancher has a custom designed plan with contemporary flare and a designer's eye on the details. 15' ceilings in foyer greet you as you enter, accented by an eye catching modern cage chandelier. The kitchen has a contemporary feel with waterfall island quartz counters, pendants with vintage bulbs, a deluxe appliance package with 5 burner gas cook-top, french door style fridge and built-in oven/microwave combo unit. A walk-in pantry with wood shelving complete the package. The Great Room has white oak hardwood floors throughout, 11' high ceilings, a natural stone fireplace with built-in flat screen TV mount. The gas fireplace has a full function remote control for both thermostatic as well as manual settings and a built-in blower to distribute heat throughout the main floor as needed. Walking onto the deck you'll find a partially covered deck with a natural gas BBQ hook-up. The Master bedroom on main has a luxurious feel with heated tile floors in the ensuite, walk-in curbless shower with glass enclosure, gorgeous freestanding tub and a separate W/C. A main floor den off the entry that could double as a guest bedroom, a full bathroom and large laundry complete the main floor. The fully finished basement has two additional bedrooms, full bath and family/rec room. The lot is complete with front and rear landscaping with underground irrigation. This is the last house with street access to both front and back yards. There's room for a pool and even RV parking. Built with an eye to the future the house has a high efficient air source heat pump, hot water on demand , wired with fibreoptic and pre-wired for central alarm.
